Superplants - Interior Landscaping and Office Plants in the UK

Environmental Considerations

Our business is naturally a ‘green’ business as we provide and maintain hundreds of living plant displays for companies and organisations across London and the South of the country.

Each of our plants provides oxygen into the environment during the working day, cleaning the air and helping to provide a ‘greener’ less toxic environment.

Greener Vehicles

We have started exchanging our commercial vehicles from diesel to petrol with LPG conversions. They are regarded as environmentally friendly as they deliver superior fuel economy.

In addition to sharing vehicles for certain maintenance runs, some staff use public transport from time to time to travel to client sites to reduce pollution and congestion.

Company directors are not provided with company cars.

Recycling - Biodegradable

We recycle all our old compost, placing it in compost clamps and reusing it in exterior planting schemes.

All woody material removed from exterior sites is chipped and reused as a ‘mulch’ on exterior planting schemes to reduce water loss and reduce weed growth.

Old plant material can be recycled provided it is suitable for mulching.

We recycle any suitable cardboard packing material we receive.

Reducing Carbon Output

We recycle our grp plant containers, by refurbishing and re-spraying when possible, and where appropriate placing these containers in alternative projects or placing the containers in our short term hire stock.

We also recycle our top dressing when possible – carefully washing and cleaning before reuse.

Reduction of water and energy consumption is a priority but difficult in our business.  We must water our plants – however we run off a metered service at our nursery.

Energy Consumption

Our tropical house, which we heat in the cold temperature periods (Autumn/Winter/Spring), is deliberately kept small to reduce the amount of heating fuel we use.

We schedule our deliveries carefully and service our fleet carefully to ensure maximum efficiency and help reduce CO2 emissions and reduce the greenhouse effect.

Tree Planting Scheme

For every new long term agreement we gain, we plant a new tree at our nursery which help offset both our own and our clients carbon footprint.

We soon plan to create small ‘conservation’ pockets on the land at our nursery site using native trees and shrubs – which will provide habitat and cover for animals, birds and invertebrates. This will scheme also includes the use of nesting boxes and insect feeders etc

Charity Donations

Whilst we are a relatively small organisation, we do make annual contributions to a number of agreed charities.  Where appropriate, our ex-contract plants are donated to local charitable organisations, schools etc.
